Recently, our second year students were invited on an overnight stay to the quiet town of Langport, Somerset where they took part in a Business Simulation Game and a Careers workshop. It was an ideal place for self reflection and a final push for their last year of studies.
On day one individuals teamed up to create a new pasta restaurant in a European town and were made to make important business decisions ‘month after month’. Some of these decisions included how much money to borrow from the bank, marketing strategies, and even what kind of pasta to serve customers! The winners were the team with the most profit at the end of a 6 month period.
“I highly recommend this game! It opened my eyes to the impact small decisions can make to the profit of a business. I also learned the importance of consistency and analysis. Thank you to Apex College for this opportunity”.
Day two’s focus was Careers advice and ‘life after Apex College’. Students also learned about the SMART way of setting goals and how to manage difficult situations in the workplace.
We are pleased our students enjoyed the overnight stay and we hope to take a new group very soon!
